Maserati Ghibli SS Spyder
Maserati Ghibli SS Spyder

One of the most desired Maserati sportscars, the Ghibli Spyder. This model at The Auction in Las Vegas of 1991. With only 125 Spyders built, the Ghibli Spyders are a rare sight at shows. This model was flawless.
A nice sunny November day in Las Vegas provided an excellent opportunity to view some of the most rare vehicles in one spot.

Before the more current designed Elise model, the previous design which entered the USA in very limited numbers in 2000 looked more frog-like in the front. This model was photographed at the Chicago Auto Show of 2000.
The rear styling of this Elise in 2000 is very much like the current version. I was fortunate enough to also see another 2000 Elise model driving in front of the local Aston Martin and Ferrari dealership.

Marcos Coupe
1983 Lotus Esprit Turbo

A Marcos anywhere is rare much less in the USA. I was fortunate to spot this model in front of a house in Las Vegas in 1992. This has been my only sighting of a Marcos in the United States.
Even though the Lotus Esprit is much more rare than Ferraris at shows, seeing an exceptionally clean example is rare. This one was spotted at the Osceola Auto Show (Home of Classic Motorbooks Publishers). I am reminded of James Bond "For Your Eyes Only" with this model's decals.

It is quite rare for Maserati to show a concept or prototype. This is the Maserati version of an SUV, called the Kubang. Although it appears Maserati may be years away, if ever, from producing an SUV or Crossover vehicle, the Kubang was a pleasant surprise at the Detroit 2003 Show.
The Kubang shared the display stand with a Coupe model. Giugiaro designed the Kubang which was powered by a 390 horsepower 4.2 litre V8 engine.
